Ankara Metropolitan Mayor has commented on the devastating Hurricane Irma’s effects, wishing for further destruction in the US.

As millions of Americans suffered through this disaster, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İ. Melih Gökçek has tweeted calling for his followers to join in with a prayer inviting devastation to victims of hurricanes which had taken more than 10 lives.
US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert commented on Ankara Mayor’s prayer saying “I am a woman of faith and I hope those prayers only fall onto deaf ears; I cannot imagine praying for tragedy for any nation, really”.
