Turkey's notorious Social Media Law has come into full effect on October 1, 2020 and on the very day it happened, Twitter became inaccessible for a duration of 11 minutes in the afternoon. On various other platforms, social media users reacted to the access problems to Twitter, questioning whether or not this was related to the Social Media Law.

When trying to access their Twitter accounts, many users in Turkey were faced with blank pages where they could not see their tweets or the content from the people they were following. The problem laster for 11 minutes and caused reactions on various other platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Multiple users asked if this was linked to the Social Media Law coming into effect.
